Storage

Storing hazardous substances safely is really important.

Some substances can't be stored in containers made out of certain materials. And some substances shouldn't be stored near other substances because they could cause a fire or explosion if they mix. Talk to your boss about safe ways to store the products you use and whether they should be stored in particular places.

Never put a hazardous substance in a food or drink container - even if the container is labelled. Too often people are hurt after accidently drinking hazardous substances that have been stored in a drink bottle. You know what's in the bottle - but no one else will.

Liquid substances release fumes that may be flammable and toxic. Keep lids on your hazardous substances to keep the fumes in the container and out of the air you and your work mates breathe.
